Maintenance Gap in Faucet Aerators

Sink faucets in public restrooms are equipped with aerators, which are compact mesh screens threaded onto the end of the spout to regulate water flow.

Aerators were previously maintained through a standard process: they were unscrewed counterclockwise from the faucet tip, soaked in a solution to loosen mineral deposits, gently scrubbed, rinsed under running water, and then screwed back clockwise into place.

This upkeep was carried out at regular intervals.

Those maintenance actions no longer take place.

Aerators stay attached to the faucets without removal, soaking, scrubbing, or reinstallation.

The faucets remain in use, dispensing water through the aerators as they are.

The setup of these sink faucets exists amid the absence of aerator maintenance.
